Meet Service Dog Faith

Faith Biography Photo

My name is Faith, I’m a White Swiss Shepherd and I am the Head Service Dog K9 TASK Trainer’s Service Dog.
I started my journey from 10 weeks old, when my mum picked me up from the breeder (CoolWhite Kennels). The first thing I was taught was learning about leads and toileting on command, which I mastered in less than a week.

I learned who to be social around people, other dogs, different environments, places, dog shows, dog friendly stores etc. Then when I was older (about 4 months) and I had a good foundation of my basic obedience commands, mum introduced to me my very first Service Dog vest, it was so small, I definitely would not fit it now. And she taught me how to put it on and off, then we did short adventures to dog friendly places and cafes and did basic obedience.

Slowly I grew and so did my confidence and experiences. I learned how to go in public places, shops, cafes, public transport, travelators, escalators, lifts, stairs etc

Then I started to learn how to TASK (this was around 8 months old). Mum says she likes to wait for young dogs/puppies to grow up mentally and physically so then it gives us a chance to be puppies and of course actually remember these tasks. I learned how to interrupt Panic Attacks, Self-Harm behaviours, Crowd Control, Blocking, DPT (Deep Pressure Therapy), Find the Exit, Find the Car
But in 2018 I proved how much I knew my mum needed me. On a normal walk (no vest), I tried to get my mums attention in every way I could think of, I jumped up at her, I did circles, I played up so much, but my mum didn’t understand. 15 minutes later mum hit the pavement with her head and had a seizure. I went straight into action and did DPT (Deep Pressure Therapy), rolled her onto her left side (which I had never been trained to do) and continued to lay on her and lick her face until she was ok.

Since then I have ALERTED to EVERY Seizure she has had, with her being able to either get to safety with my help or take medication

I have SAVED HER LIFE
I LOVE MY MUM, AND SHE LOVES ME
I AM A PTSD AND MEDICAL ALERT SERVICE DOG
